Iran and Afghanistan stressed fighting terrorism and extremism, ISNA reported.

Tehran and Kabul held the first joint security commission meeting in Tehran on Monday.

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar told reporters after the meeting that Iran and Afghanistan signed a security treaty in 2007 which called for formation of a security committee to monitor implementation of the treaty's articles. The Monday session was the first security commission meeting attended by officials of the two sides.

It mainly and discussed battling terrorism and drug as well as intelligence exchange.

The session was co-chaired by Afghan Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Abdul Rahman Rahman and Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi.

Also concerning weather Bin Laden's death has led to fall of terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Abdul Rahman Rahman, said, "Bin Laden was only an individual but his hell organization is still carrying out attacks in all regional states."

Regarding the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in fighting drugs, he said, "the Islamic Republic of Iran has done well so far in battling narcotics and we regard the role of Iran as positive."
