President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, heading a delegation, left Tehran for Venezuela as the first leg of his four-nation Latin American tour which will later take him to Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador, respectively, on Sunday morning, IRNA reported.

During the visits, the Iranian President is scheduled to exchange views with leaders of those countries on issues of mutual interests as well as regional and global developments.

Other issues such as Middle East, North Africa and economic crises in Europe and the US will be on the agenda of the President's bilateral talks.

Several dam buildings and electricity projects are on the agenda for discussion in south America, said Majid Namjoo, Iran's Energy Minister.

One of the projects Iran is seeking to build is a hydroelectric dam in Ecuador. Mr. Namjoo said that Iran was competing against China for the contract.
