Five people have been executed in public today in the Iranian city of Yasuj in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, the MEHR News Agency reported on Thursday. According to the report, these people had been charged with kidnapping and rape.
Twenty people were executed in Tehran having been charged with illicit drug trafficking in October-November 2012.
According to international media outlets, over 488 people were executed last year (from October 2011 to October 2012) in Iran.
