Tehran Prosecutor's Office issued a statement, according to which, the cases for head of Iran's social security organization Saeed Mortazavi and diplomat Fazel Larijani will continue, Fars reported.

According to the statement, earlier today, Mortazavi was released from prison, after an interrogation.

Mortazavi has been arrested yesterday on charges of illegal possession of government property, according informed sources.

Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad expressed his regret over the arrest of Mortazavi, and said he will personally handle the issue.

Speaking at the parliament on Sunday, Ahmadinejad accused the parliament speaker Ali Larijani's family of corruption.

Addressing parliament to defend one of his ministers against impeachment, Ahmadinejad went on the attack, playing astonished lawmakers a recorded conversation with the brother of the speaker that he said implicated the whole family in corruption.

Under Larijani's chairmanship, parliament has been hostile to Ahmadinejad for most of his second four-year term and on Sunday it voted to dismiss Labor Minister Abdolreza Sheikholeslami over his decision to appoint Saeed Mortazavi, accused of links to the deaths of prisoners, to a new job.

Ahmadinejad played what he said was a recording of a conversation between Mortazavi and Fazel Larijani, the speaker's brother, that proved the family had used the prominence of the five Larijani brothers for economic gain.

But the recording was inaudible and Ahmadinejad read out what he said was a summary.

Tehran Prosecutor Office announced early Tuesday that Mourtazavi got arrested, without giving out any details.

"I don't know why it so happens that a person who commits crime is free, while the one who informed of the crime gets arrested," Ahmadinejad said.

He went on to add that the Judiciary System of Iran is not to be run by a family, noting that such situation is not good for Iran or the Judiciary system itself.

Iran's Judicial System is being run by the eldest of Larijani brothers - Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani.

A parliamentary report issued on January 10, 2010 blamed Mortazavi for sending 147 inmates, charged with involvement in the political unrest that occurred after the Iranian presidential election of June 2009, to the substandard Kahrizak detention center on July 9, 2009.

In 2011, Tehran's Military Court dismissed Mortazavi after a series of tragic incidents in the Kahrizak Prison.
