IRI First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi here Wednesday evening visited wounded victims of Bushehr province's Dashti City earthquake at Persian Gulf Martyrs Hospital, IRNA reported.

Rahimi visited the wounded victims after surveying personally the status of the earthquake regions and attending the Bushehr Governorate where a special work group was preparing the roadmap for assisting the quake victims and reconstruction of their homes.

Sympathizing with the wounded victims, Rahimi condoled with the bereaved members of the deceased victims, and expressed shared heartfelt pain with them all, promising them that the government would begin the reconstruction work in the quake regions as early as 'tomorrow' (Thursday).

Another relatively strong quake measuring 5.4 on Richter scale jolted Dashti city in the southern province of Bushehr Wednesday.

According to a report by seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 12:29 o'clock local time (07:59 hours GMT).

Over 70 aftershocks were registered in the quake-stricken city of Dashti since early Wednesday.

A killer earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale inflicted severe damage upon 12 villages in Shanbeh and Tasouj areas in Dashti on Tuesday.

The latest official death toll from the quake-stricken areas of Shanbeh, Tasouj and Kaki has increased to 37 while 850 have been injured.
