Principlist candidate for Iran's presidential elections, Ali Akbar Velayati has said that a 100-day crash program should be developed to address economic problems such as unemployment and high inflation, the Tasnim News Agency reported.

The major problem is that the officials are not committed to objectives of the long-term economic development plans, he said, adding that the national economy should be transferred to the public.

Velayati has promised free healthcare, if he becomes Iran's next president.

Based on the latest official report which was released on May 28, Iran's unemployment rate stands at 12.2 percent.

According to the International Monetary Fund, Iran's economy decreased by 1.9 percent in 2012. The value of the country's current, the rial, also decreased by 40 percent in 2012. According to the Central Bank of Iran, the country's inflation was above 30 percent in the previous year.

Velayati said that if ratified by the parliament, people will initially have to pay for about thirty percent of their healthcare expenses, while the services will be provided completely free of charge in the long run, the IRIB News Agency reported.

The senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the important contribution of rural areas to domestic production, adding that free healthcare coverage should start form those areas.

In another interview, Velayati said that the US and Israel have admitted to Iran's cyber power.

"Iran should provide a defense circle to block its foes' cyber attacks," he added.

Velayati went on to note that the country's foes use internet in other to put political pressure on Iran.

Velayati is a member of the principlist Coalition of Three, along with Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and MP Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term.
