The voting security and post-voting atmosphere security is the responsiblity of Iranian police, not intelligence ministry's, Iran's Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi told journalists at the press conference.

"We have carved out good planning for the voting at presidential elections. I hope that the situation will remain in good condition, as it is currently," he said.

In February 2013, Iran's Police Chief Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam said that the Iranian police will be using the "honorary police" structure units at the presidential elections.

Moghaddam noted at the time that the people are currently being trained by the police for the upcoming elections, and to be able to handle special assignments, if necessary.

Mogaddam also said that 8,500 members of Basij armed forces will be helping police to prevent any troubles at the elections.

The 11th presidential elections have officially started today in Iran.

There are six candidates participating in the current presidential elections: Secretary of Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, President of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential poll. Iranians living in other countries are able to vote through the embassies of Iran in those countries.

The primary results of the June 14 presidential election will be announced by the Iranian Interior Ministry, and would be then approved by the Guardian Council.
