The head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi told IRNA on Sep.6 that no decision has been made on the date to fuel the 40-MW Arak heavy-water reactor.

Previously, Iran announced at the end of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's presidency that Iran is preparing to launch the Arak reactor in 2014.

Salehi said when he was appointed as head of AEOI, he was asked about the time of fuelling the reactor because according to the law, the International Atomic Energy Agency asks for this information 180 days before fuelling the reactor. "Because of technical problems the fuelling time was postponed until the building of the reactor was completed", he said.

Salehi added that the Arak reactor would not be launched in first quarter of 2014.
