Iran to inaugurate longest Persian Gulf underwater gas pipeline

Iran has completed instruction of the longest underwater submarine sore gas transfer pipeline in the Persian Gulf, deputy director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company Amir Saeid Najafi said, Fars news agency reported.

The 32 inches pipeline runs 290 kilometers in length from Sirri island to Asaluyeh port, he added.

According to the report, the National Iranian Oil Company plans to transfer about 500 million Cubic feet of the sore gas from Salman oilfield, which is shared with the UAE, to South Pars refineries for refining.

In September, Iranian media outlets informed that, Iran has increased oil production by 10,000 barrels per day at Salman oilfield.

To date, 46 wells have been drilled at the oilfield, the report said.

In February, the Mehr News Agency reported that Iran has outpaced the United Arab Emirates and Oman in tapping the Hengam and Salman joint oilfields.

Iran's share of extracting oil from the Salman field is twice more than the United Arab Emirates, the report added.

In May, the Fars News Agency reported that Iran plans to develop 12 oil and gas fields in the Persian Gulf.

Some €600 million is projected to be invested in the development of 8 joint fields and 4 independent fields.

In April 2012, National Iranian Offshore Oilfields Company managing director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said that "Iran has launched projects to develop four oilfields, located in Persian Gulf, and raise the total output by 100,000 bpd during the current calendar year (ended on March 21)."
