Iran and Russia, in line with their cordial relations, will continue negotiations on S-300 surface-to-air defense system until reaching an agreement so that Russia keeps its promises and supplies Iran with the system, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Saturday.

Marzieh Afkham told IRNA that the end of the mission of Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi has nothing to do with S-300 missile system issue.

Sajjadi has told Russian media that his mission in Moscow will expire in 20 days and he will come back to Tehran.

Afkham dismissed reports naming different diplomats for replacing Iranian ambassadors whose diplomatic mission has expired, saying, these reports lack the required accuracy and Foreign Ministry will release official news in this regard.

Since the formation of the new government of Iran under President Hassan Rohani, Iran has only appointed Reza Najafi as its envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to replace Ali-Asghar Soltanieh while it is said that the missions of nearly 50 Iranian ambassadors have come to an end.
