The EU can become a pioneer in achieving an agreement with Iran on the country's nuclear issue, expert on international relations Davood Hermidas Bavand told Trend.

"Compared to the US administration, EU can act more freely, while the president Barack Obama has to satisfy the Congress," he added.

Influence of the Israeli lobby in the United States is also more powerful compared to the EU, Bavand added.

He stated that, despite the US, European companies were active in Iran before sanctions and are interested in returning there.

Some European companies expressed interest in returning to the Iranian market after the sanctions against the Islamic Republic are lifted.

Early in August, a Renault spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the automaker is waiting for the sanctions to be lifted or for the political situation to change before resuming shipping completely knocked down (CKD) kits to Iran again.

The similar statements were announced by other European companies. The AFP quoted chief executive of Total Christophe de Margerie as saying French energy giant Total will return to Iran, if international sanctions are lifted on petroleum exports.

"The EU can take first steps on achieving an agreement with Iran and lifting sanctions against it. If it happens, it will be easier for Obama to gain an upper hand against the opposition in the US Congress and the Israeli lobby, Bavand explained.

Commenting on Iranian extremist groups' viewpoints against the nuclear agreement with west he said that, if the negotiations are successful, the Iranian extremists will be limited in their actions

Bavand believes that Iranian extremists are not interested on success of the negotiations.

"The P5+1 group seem to have welcomed Iran's new proposal," he said adding that the negotiation process was successful.

Iran and the P5+1 issued a joint statement at the end of the talks for first time which shows that two sides achieved a basic agreement regarding the issue, Bavand stated.

"Experts from both sides will pursue the legal and technical details till the next round of the negotiations, he added.

He also predicted that the negotiations would be continuing up to one year.
