Iranian parliament has started an open session to give a vote of confidence to President Hassan Rouhani's fourth nominee for the ministry of sports and youth affairs, Mahmoud Goudarzi.

MPs for and against Goudarzi are currently discussing his qualifications, the ISNA News Agency reported.

The Iranian president has attended the parliament along with his proposed nominee for the ministry of sports and youth affairs.

It is the fourth attempt by the government of president Rohani to win a vote of confidence for the vacant seat in his cabinet.

Rouhani's previous nominees for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs all failed to win parliament's vote of confidence.

Seyed Nasrollah Sajjadi was the third nominee who received 124 votes in favor, 107 against and 22 abstentions.

The MPs had previously rejected Masoud Soltanifar and Reza Salehi Amiri for the post.

Vice president Mohammad Shariatmadari is currently the caretaker of the ministry.

15 of the total of 18 nominees in the president's proposed list in August were earlier approved by legislators.

Other two ministers were approved last week, which left the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister the only vacant post.
