Tehran is ready to boost cooperation with Caracas in various fields such as oil, gas, petrochemical, housing, and other industries, the Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Mohammad-Reza Nematzadeh said, the IRNA News Agency reported on December 22.

He made the remarks at a meeting with the Venezuelan ambassador to Tehran, Amenhotep Zambrano.

"Iran has constructed 10,000 housing units in Venezuela and contractors are currently building some 10,000 more," Nematzadeh said.

He went on to note that Tehran has also constructed a tractor manufacturing unit as well as an automobile factory there.

Zambrano, for his part, declared his country's readiness to boost ties with Iranian companies in the fields of housing, oil, auto industry, cement, electronics and electricity, agriculture, and nanotechnology.

Press TV reported on October 26 that major Latin American countries, including Venezuela, have enhanced their diplomatic and trade ties with Iran in recent years. The promotion of all-out cooperation with Latin American countries has been among the top priorities of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy over the past few years.
