U.S. welcomes Iran's participation in the Geneva-2, but Tehran should support the Geneva communique, RIA Novosti reported citing a statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry made at a press conference in Paris on Jan.13.
"We will welcome the participation of Iran [in Geneva-2], if Iran confirms that it will take part in the conference strictly within the goals that have been set for the Geneva-2 conference. They will also be able to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the issue," Kerry said.
