Over a thousand of contractors of Iranian "Bandar Imam" petrochemical company in Khuzestan province, staged a protest, ILNA news agency reported on Jan. 14.

The employees staged the protest in front of the company's office, claiming discrimination in salary and benefits, compared to full-time employees.

The contractors chanted slogans, asking for increase in salary and having benefits of staff employees, such as transport services and food during the day.

The protesters were asking for president Hassan Rouhani, who is in the province, to come and solve their problems with the company's head managers.

Another similar protest was held today at the sugarcane factory in Khuzestan province, according to Iranian media outlets. The factory employees were asking for Rouhani's help, as they haven't been receiving salary for several months now.

On Jan. 12 "Traktorsazi" engineering plant workers held a protest action in Tabriz.

The protesters gathered in front of the Tabriz municipal administration with the requirement to pay their salaries for the last nine months. Over 200 workers were involved in this rally.

The rally lasted several hours and ended after the interference of the deputy head of the executive power of the city. He said that the salaries will be paid within ten days. It should be stressed that the workers carried out similar rally in connection with non-payment of salaries in 2013.
