Iran hopes that Russia will continue to play an important role in settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, ITAR-TASS reported citing the statement of Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Javad Zarif.
"A key role of Russia in the settlement of the Iranian nuclear program is very important, and we welcome this role and hope that it will continue," Zarif said.
At the same time, the foreign minister stressed that Russia and Iran have common challenges, one of which is in the region and threatens everyone and it is extremism. According to Zarif, this problem manifests itself in its pernicious form, in terrorism in different parts of the world, including Russia. Regarding this he expressed condolences to Russia on the terrorist attacks in Volgograd.
"We appreciate Russia's role in the prevention of a new war in the Middle East -in Syria," Javad Zarif said. "We are confident that Russia's role in holding the Geneva-2 will also be fundamental. We will discuss it today."
