Iranian agriculture minister and his German counterpart have met in Berlin to enhance bilateral ties, IRNA reported on January 20.

Iranian minister Mahmoud Hojjati said that cooperation with Germany will be enhanced in the near future in the fields of agricultural and food products.

The agriculture sector in Iran has been affected little by the international sanctions, he said, adding that lifting the sanctions will facilitate money transaction by businessmen and exporters.

Hojjati is in Germany to attend the 6th Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit, the world's largest conference of its kind. The event has brought together delegates from more than 70 countries.

The participants in the summit stressed that diversity, sustainability, and productivity are key elements to an adaptable agricultural sector.

Germany is reportedly the European Union's biggest exporter of goods to Iran, well ahead of Italy and France.

Despite the international economic sanctions against Iran, business ties between Germany and Iran remain strong. German firms continue to engage in brisk trade with Iran and are finding ways of exporting goods to the country.
