Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behrouz Kamalvandi said the Bushehr nuclear power plant is to halt activities for few days for fuel changeover, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on Jan. 28.
He told IRNA that the nuclear power plant located in south of Iran on the Persian Gulf waters will stop work temporarily for annual services within days.
He further explained that the fuel changeover operations were due to take place in mid January but were delayed upon the request of ministries of oil and energy that wanted to use the gas needed by the power plant for household consumption because of the cold season in the country.
Kamalvandi said the fuel changeover procedure, on the average, takes one month to complete during which one third of the power plant's fuel is replaced.
