Russia and Iran's positions on the results of the Geneva-2 conference are important, Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in Tehran, Iranian IRNA news agency reported on Jan. 29.

Erdogan, who heads the country's official delegation, arrived in Iran on Jan. 28. The Turkish PM has already met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and is expected to meet the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Erdogan said he is meeting high-ranking Iranian officials and will be discussing important happenings between the two countries, as well as other international issues.

Turkish PM also noted that the country, along with Iran, will apply joint efforts to strengthen stability and development in the region.

Erdogan went on to say that Iran and Turkey are strong and influential countries in the region, and they both plan important roles there.

"My visit to Iran shows that Ankara wants to deepen its relations with Tehran, and I hope our mutual relations will help to develop regional stability as well," Erdogan said.
