Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has appointed Masoud Soltanifar as vice-president and head of the Iran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO), Iranian Fars news agency reported on Jan. 30.

Soltanifar, who failed to win the parliament's vote of confidence for the youth affairs and sports ministry in Rouhani's administration in August earlier served as Governor General of Gilan, Zanjan, and Markazi provinces.

Rouhani accepted the resignation of the former head of the CHTHO, Mohammad Ali Najafi today. On Jan. 29, Iranian media outlets announced that Najafi had offered his resignation from the organization.

Rouhani appointed Najafi as president's adviser and secretary of the Economic Coordination Committee.
