Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.11

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran has signed its first oil contract after the Geneva deal with North Sudan in Africa, the Mehr News Agency reported on Feb. 11.

The Iranian Oil Ministry's Research Center signed the deal with North Sudan's PLRS Company to export technical and engineering services to the African nation in the upstream oil and gas sector.

The upstream oil sector is also commonly known as the exploration and production (E&P) sector.

The implementation of the Geneva nuclear deal will pave the way for an increase in Iran's oil exports, Seyyed Mohsen Ghamsari, an official with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), said on Jan. 12, the IRIB News Agency reported.

"All customers of Iran's oil are waiting for the deal to come into force," Ghamsari said.

"Iran exported around 1.2 million barrels of gas condensates per day in the previous year," he said, adding that the figure has reached to 1.4 million barrels in the current year.

Iran will unveil its new oil and gas contracts, which have been revised to be more attractive to foreign investors, in the next Iranian calendar month of Esfand, which ends on March 20, IRIB quoted Iranian deputy oil minister Ali Majedi as saying on Feb. 8.

Under the new conditions, the activity of international companies will be facilitated inIran, Majedi added.

Iran welcomes all international companies to return to the country and invest in its oil and gas projects, he said.

Reuters last month quoted an Iranian oil official as saying that the country exported 600,000 barrels of oil per month (21.3 million liters per day) in the first three quarters of the current year.
