Singapore Foreign Minister K Shanmugam is to pay an official visit to Tehran on Sunday. The visit takes place at invitation from Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif.

IRNA learned that the Singaporean foreign minister will embark on regional tour which will include Iran and Qatar.

During his stay in Iran, he is to confer with President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and other senior officials on issues of mutual interests as well as regional developments.

During his stay in Iran, he will visit the city of Isfahan and exchange views with the local officials.

Meanwhile, A high ranking Singaporean delegation will accompany the foreign minister.

According to Iranian Embassy, this is the first ever visit of the Singaporeˈs foreign minister to Tehran.

Iran is to hold a cultural week in Singapore to demonstrate the countryˈs rich culture and civilization.

Recent positive developments in Geneva talks, encouraged Singapore to take unprecedented steps towards Iran market.

Singapore has offered new proposals to broaden economic cooperation with Iran.

Iran and Singapore with high scientific, economic and industrial potentials have been located in the best strategic and geographic locations bearing ample grounds for economic cooperation.

It is expected that the visit of the Singapore foreign minister to open new chapter in expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.
