Iran holds Islamabad responsible for safety of Iranian abducted border guards

Following unconfirmed reports on martyrdom of one of the five Iranian border guards, held captive in Pakistan by Jeish al-Adl terrorist group, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said the Pakistani government is responsible for their safety, IRNA reported.

Afkham expressed deep regret over the news and called on Pakistani officials to say whether the claims by the terrorist group regarding the killing of one of the Iranian border guards are true or not.

Afkham accused Pakistan of failing to take serious measures to secure the safety of Iranian border guards, calling for immediate capture of the terrorists and extraditing them with Iran.

Unfortunately, terrorist groups have utilized Pakistani soil in the past few months to carry out terrorist acts against Iranian citizens and Iranˈs national interests, the spokeswoman said.

Afkham voiced Tehranˈs readiness to cooperate with Islamabad at any level to ensure the security of bordering areas and fight terrorism.
