A Swiss parliamentary delegation is due to pay a four-day visit to Tehran on April 16.

The visit is aimed on boosting bilateral relations, the country's PANA news agency reported on April 9.

The delegation is scheduled to meet with Iranian senior officials including the head of the Iran-Swiss parliamentary friendship group, Abbasali Mansouri Arani.

An Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Moayyed Hosseini Sadr visited Geneva in March and participated in Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting.

The Iranian lawmakers also met with senior Swiss officials during the visit.

Earlier in September a Swiss diplomatic delegation headed by director General of Swiss Foreign Ministry for the Middle East Affairs, Wolfgang Amadeus Brulhart visited Iran and discussed the regional and mutual issues.

Official figures show that Switzerland's exports to Iran totaled nearly $2.336 billion during the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

According to official figures released by the Iran's Customs Administration, Switzerland imported some $10 million worth of goods from Iran during the period.

The Swiss embassy in Tehran also represents the interests of the United States in the Islamic republic.

Tehran and Washington broke off diplomatic relations following the seizure of US embassy staff in Tehran in the months after the 1979 revolution.
