Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs, by consulting with Yemen foreign minister and security officials of the country, called for prompt release of Iranian kidnapped diplomat in Yemen, IRNA reported.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Hossein Amir-Abdullahian discussed issues of mutual interest with Yemen Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi and a number of related security officials of the country.
He called relations between Iran and Yemen historical, cultural and deep and added that there are many capacities for expansion of bilateral relations.
In the meeting, Amir-Abdullahian asked about the latest acts of the Yemeni officials concerning Iranian kidnapped diplomat Noor Ahmad Nikbakht.
Al-Qirbi welcomed visit of Amir-Abdullahian and called it a new chapter in bilateral ties and added that all Yemeni officials have emphasis on development of friendly relations with Iran and called it beneficial for stability and security in Yemen and the region.
The Yemeni officials underlined health of kidnapped diplomat and presented a report on different actions concerning identification of perpetrators of the act as well as those who killed another Iranian diplomat in Yemen Abulqassem Assadi and expressed hope that they can release Nikbakht as soon as possible.
Iranˈs administrative attaché in Sanaˈa Noor Ahmad Nikbakht was kidnapped on July 21, 2013, when he was driving to the office.
Since then, a joint committee from the two countries has been following up the case.
Amir-Abdullahian is due to visit Doha, Qatar, to attend the joint political committee between the two countries.
