Iran’s technical-engineering services exports increase by 40 percent

Iran exported over $490 million worth of technical and engineering services in the first three months of the current Iranian fiscal year which began on March 21, 2014.

The figure indicates an increase of 40 percent compared to the same period of last year, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on August 5.

The country exported $2.261 billion worth of technical and engineering services in the last fiscal year (ended on March 20, 2014), meanwhile the figure stood at $2.322 billion in the 12-month period ended on March, 2013.

Iran's technical and engineering services exports reached $4.2 billion in the one-year period ended on March 2012, which was the highest figure in last two decades. "Iran has the capacity to export $10 billion worth of technical and engineering services per year in five years, according to Siamak Dolatshahi, head of the Association of Iranian Exporters of Technical and Engineering Services.

The country can reach the goal of exporting $20 billion worth of technical and engineering services in the long-term period, he underlined.

Iran exported 19.7 million tonnes of non-oil goods (excluding gas condensates), worth $8.1 billion in spring 2014, which corresponds to the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21).

China, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates were the top three importers of Iranian non-oil goods. The three countries imported $2.1 billion, $1.4 billion, and $994 million worth of Iranian goods, respectively.

Iran's total non-oil trade (including condensates) surpassed $24.2 billion in spring 2014, according to the Iran Customs Administration.
