Tehran, Astana sign several MoUs

Iran and Kazakhstan signed several memorandums of understanding on Sept. 9.

The signed MoUs are in different fields including international transportation, and trade, industrial, and economic relations, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported.

The two countries' foreign ministries also signed a five-year cooperation contract.

The documents were signed on the sidelines of Iranian president's visit toKazakhstan.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana earlier on Tuesday.

The two sides discussed possible ways to boost bilateral ties, as well as regional and international issues, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on Sept. 9.

The two presidents will attend a joint press conference later today.

Rouhani is in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on the first leg of his five-day tour of central Asia. He is heading a high-ranking economic and diplomatic delegation.

The Iranian president will later head to Tajikistan for a three-day visit where he will attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Rouhani is expected to hold bilateral talks with officials from other participating nations on the sidelines of the summit.
