Pakistan interested to invest in development of Iran’s Chabahar port

Pakistani Consul General in Iran's Sistan-Balouchestan province, Taher Mahmoud Qureishi, said Pakistan is interested in investing in development of Iran's strategic port of Chabahar.

He made the remarks in a meeting with
Iran's Sistan-Balouchestan province's governor general Ali-Osat Hashemi, Iran's IRIB reported on September 15.

Hashemi, for his part, said neighboring countries, including Pakistan, can take advantage of the strategic location of the port.

Launching shipping line between Iran and Pakistan can contribute to the economic development in the region, he said.

Chabahar Port, located 72 kilometers (44 miles) west of Pakistan's Gwadar port, holds immense strategic and economic significance for India.
