USD price falls, euro rises at Iran’s forex center

The U.S. dollar was sold at the price of 26,641 rials at Iran's forex center on Sept. 20.

The euro was also presented at the price of 34,280 rials, while the British pound was traded at 43,342 rials, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on Sept. 20.

The euro, British pound and U.S. dollar were traded at the prices of 34,188, 43,412, and 26,649 rials on Thursday.

The U.S. dollar was also sold at the price of 31,140 rials at the free market on Sept. 20, while the euro and British pound were presented at the price of 41,650, and 51,700 rials, respectively.

The foreign exchange center was officially inaugurated on September 24, 2012.

The center allows importers of goods including truck tires, construction equipment and synthetic fibers to buy dollars at a rate 2 percent cheaper than the street rate at any given time.

According to the center's spokesman Samad Karimi, Iran's forex center has the capacity to trade over 100 million dollars each working day.
