Iran’s hydroelectric power output hits 9.8B kwh in 6 months

Iran's hydroelectric power plants have generated 9.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in the first half of the current year.

The country's hydroelectric power generation rose by 7 percent compared to the first half of the previous year, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on October 1.

Based on the annual report of Iran's Energy Ministry, the country's hydroelectric power generation capacity was 10.5 gigawatts past year.

Power generation capacity in Iran has grown by seven percent annually during the past 10 years.

Iran is currently the biggest electricity producer in the Middle East.

Iran's total electricity generation currently stands at 70,000 megawatts.

Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.
