Iran’s state-run companies produce over 17M tons of iron ore

Iran's eight major state-run iron ore producing companies have produced about 17.043 million metric tons of iron ore during the first half of current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22).

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said that the figure indicates an increase by 2 percent compared to the same period of preceding year, the official IRNA news agency reported Oct. 18.

The eight Markazi, Gol Gohar, Chadormalou, Sirjan, Jalalabad, Mishdavan, Sangan and the Central Plateau companies produced 16.783 million metric tons of iron ore during the first half of the last Iranian fiscal year (Iran's fiscal year starts on March 21).

The report does not include the volume of produced iron ore by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million metric tons of iron ore annually.

The eight companies produced 5.235 million metric tons of iron ore grading in the first half of the current year.

IMIDRO earlier reported that over 12 million metric tons of concentrates was also produced by state-run companies in the six-month period.
