Platform 18A of South Pars gas filed starts operation

The flare of platform 18A of the South Pars gas field was lit on October 27, said development project manager of phases 17 and 18 of the South Pars, Hassan Boyeri said, Iran's Shana news agency quoted Boyeri as saying on October 28.

Boyeri said the platform has 11 wells. He added that for the first time well No. 3 started operating.

It is projected that phases 17 and 18 of the South Pars gas field will eventually produce 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates, and 400 metric tons of sulfur per day.

They will also yield one million metric tons of ethane and 1.05 million metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) annually.

Iran is currently producing 300 million cubic meters of gas from South Pars per day.

The South Pars gas field, divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf on the common border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensate.
