Iranian power plants consume over 14.5B liters of fuel in 7 months

Iranian power plants consumed over 14.5 billion liters of fuel, including gas oil and furnace oil, in the first seven months of the current year (started on March 21).

Some 52.5 million liters of fuel were consumed on average per day by the country's power plants, Iran's Shana news agency reported on November 1.

During the mentioned 7-month period, the power plants consumed 3.218 billion liters of fuel more than in the same period of last year.

National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) announced on April 16 that during last fiscal year (March 20, 2013 - March, 20, 2014) supplying gas to power plants decreased by 8 percent, while the consumption of liquid fuels in this sector increased to 27 billion liters, indicate 19 percent increase comparing to the previous year.

Iranian Fars News Agency quoted the Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian on April 10 as saying that 44 percent of burnt fuel in power plants was liquid fuels, including gas oil and fuel oil during the last Iranian fiscal year.
