Iran is intended to cooperate with Azerbaijan in its oil and gas projects, Valiollah Mahabadi, managing director of Iran 's Steel Pipe Mills and Coating Association said.

Mahabadi, who is advisor to director general of Sadid Industrial Group (one of the largest energy holdings of Iran which includes 12 plants and factories), told Trend Nov. 27 that Iran can take part in Azerbaijan 's gas and oil pipelines with supplying pipes.

Mahabadi said that Sadid has signed a deal worth $200 million with Turkmenistan national gas company for supplying gas pipes. The cooperation started 1.5 years ago and will continue in the future considering the country's demand for billions dollar worth of pipe.

Iran and Azerbaijan can benefit from long-term cooperation in the energy sector, Mahabadi said.

The companies affiliated to Sadid holding annually manufacture over 5 million metric tons of pipes used in oil, gas and water projects, he said, adding the production is higher than domestic demand and can be exported.

The holding is currently carrying out various projects in Iraq and is intended to cooperate with oil and gas producer neighboring countries including Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.

Iran can also export engineering and service to Azerbaijan in oil and gas sector, Mahabadi underlined.

Iran's oil industry products have higher quality compared to similar products made in China and Korea, he said.

Importing oil industry products from neighboring Iran will be more profitable to Azerbaijan rather than importing the similar products from other countries.

While commenting on obstacles of boosting cooperation with Azerbaijan he said that some issues such as custom rules, tariffs and transport problems should be resolved for boosting mutual ties between Iran and Azerbaijan
