Iran raises tax-exempt salary ceiling

The Iranian administration has increased the maximum monthly salary of employees who are exempted from paying tax in the next Iranian calendar year at 10.15 million rials (about $350).

The tax-exempt salary ceiling has been increased by 15 percent compared to the current year's figure, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on November 28.

The current Iranian calendar year began on March 21.

Minimum monthly wage for average Iranian family should be $560, according to the Statistical Center of Iran.

The is while the Iranian administration has set the minimum salary for civil servants in the current Iranian calendar year at 6 million rials (about $240), Iran's Mehr news agency reported on October 29.

Adel Azar, director of the Statistical Center of Iran said living in rural and urban areas in spring cost an average Iranian family $310 and $560, respectively.

USD exchange rate in Iran is currently about 33,000 rials.
