Iran’s Fars province exports rise by 38%

Some 314,404 metric tons of goods worth over $141.955 million were exported from Iran's Fars province in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - October 22).

Sakineh Sayyahi, the Director of Fars Province's Customs Administration, said that the figure shows 38 percent increase in term of value compared to same period previous year, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on Nov. 29.

"The figure is 40 percent less than previous year in term of weight," she added.

She went on to note that 38 countries including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Germany, Egypt, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Austria, and Turkmenistan were the main destinations for exported goods.

"Some 46,405 metric tons of goods worth $217.249 million were also imported through Fars province's Customs Administration in the mentioned period," Sayyahi said.

"The figure shows 54 and 31 percent increase in terms of weight and value, respectively, compared to same time span previous year," she noted.

"Over 25,000 foreign tourists visited Fars province in the first seven months of current year," Sayyahi said.
