Iran to repair 5 drilling rigs

Iran plans to repair five drilling rigs until the next half of the next Iranian calendar year (September 22, 2015).

The deputy director of National Iranian Drilling Company, Mohammad Reza Takaydi, said on Dec. 19 that if the necessary funds are provided, the project will be completed in time, Iran's SHANA News Agency reported on Dec. 19.

According to the official, Iran plans to annually repair 10 drilling rigs.

"Iran's oldest drilling rig has been working for 45 years. We constantly repair the rigs and sometimes even change their engines," he explained.

Iran's newest drilling rig is the Fat'h drilling rig, which was constructed at the cost of 12.5 million euroes.

"The rig is capable of drilling 6,000 meters," Taykadi noted.
