Iran, Armenia discuss enhanced veterinary cooperation

Iran and Armenia have discussed enhanced veterinary cooperation.

Armenian First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Grisha Baghiyan met with Iranian Veterinary Organization
Director Mehdi Khalaj in Tehran, exploring ways to boost veterinary cooperation, Iran's Fars news agency reported on Dec. 20.

Baghiyan said Armenian animal farmers welcome enhanced trade with Iran. He added that Iran and Armenia have invested jointly to establish and expand sheep and cow slaughterhouses.

Iran and Armenia signed a memorandum of understanding on Dec. 16. to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy, finance, telecommunications, transportation, and agriculture.

Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and Armenian Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharyan signed the MOU at the end of the 12th meeting of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Commission, which was held from December 15 to 16 in Tehran.

Zakharyan said Armenia is seeking to double bilateral trade and financial transactions with Iran.

The volume of Iran-Armenia trade exchanges hit $300 million.
