Statistics shows that 297 people in Iranian capital lost their lives due to workplace accidents in the first seven months of the current Iranian Calendar Year (March 21 - October 22).
The figure shows 5.3 percent rise compared to previous year's figure of 282, Iran's Tabnak News Agency reported on Dec. 21.
Only three of the mentioned figure were women and the rest were men.
In the seventh calendar month of current year, 34 people were killed due to workplace accidents.
The figure is some 41.4 percent less than in the same month of last year.
Falling from height, being hit by hard objects, burning, and lack of oxygen are among the main causes of workplace deaths in Iran.
A work accident or workplace accident is a discrete occurrence in the course of work leading to physical or mental occupational injury.
According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), more than 337 million accidents happen on the workplace each year, resulting, together with occupational diseases, in more than 2.3 million deaths annually.
