Iran’s NIDC drills 118 oil, gas wells in 9 months

National Iranian Drilling Company has completed drilling operations of 188 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells in the first three quarters in the current Iranian calendar year (which started on March 21).

Deputy Director of NIDC Mehran Makvandi said that the company has totally drilled 282,564 meters of wells across the country in the mentioned period, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported Dec. 29.

According to the official, around 30 percent of the company's capacity has been used in joint fields such as Azadegan, Yaran and South Pars.

"We are currently carrying out drilling operations in 10 provinces," he said.

NIDC is using a total number of 74 drilling rigs in the mentioned fields.

National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) is a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). The company was founded in 1979 and is based in Tehran. NIDC engages in the exploration, development, and delineation drilling of oil and gas wells.

NIDC is in charge of all offshore and onshore drilling activities of NIOC.
