40 foreign firms ready to invest in Iran’s Ilam gas refinery

Forty foreign firms have declared their readiness to invest in Ilam gas refinery's development plan.

Ilam Province's Governor Mohammadreza Morvarid said that the companies are from countries including Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russian, and China, Iran's SHANA News Agency reported on Jan. 12.

"The National Iranian Gas Company is currently in negotiation with the companies," he added.

The refinery's development plan is aimed at increasing its production level to 10 million cubic meters per day.

Ilam gas refinery, located in the western part of Iran, refines 6.8 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The facility supplies gas to three provinces, in western part of the country. Ilam Province ranked second and fourth in Iran in terms of gas and oil reserves, respectively.

The refinery will also supply natural gas to neighboring Iraq.
