Iran produced over 51.6 million metric tons of cement in the first 9 months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, 2014.
More than 4.74 million metric tons of cement was produced in the ninth calendar month (Nov. 22-Dec. 21), Iran's IRNA news agency reported on Jan. 18.
Some 41.4 million metric tons of cement was supplied to the domestic market in the 9-month period.
Iran exported over 10.1 million metric tons of cement in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year. Azerbaijan and Iraq were the main buyers of Iranian cement.
The country exported around 18 million metric tons of cement in the previous Iranian calendar year.
Iran ranks first in the Middle East and third in the world in terms of cement exports.
The country's annual cement output is currently about 80 million metric tons, of which 50 million metric tons is used by domestic industries.
