Iran's Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi held a meeting with visiting Iraqi Minister of Communications, Hassan Kadhim Al-Rashed in Tehran.

During the meeting the two sides stressed the need to boost their relations in different fields including telecommunication, post, post bank, satellite, internet, land lines, mobile phones, and IT, Iran's ILNA News Agency reported on Jan. 26.

The two sides also agreed on reducing roaming tariffs.

Vaezi said that the two countries need to work more on the quality of communications.

"Iran and Iraq have long borders, so we need to take some measures to reduce frequency mix-ups," he said.

"On certain days, especially religious anniversaries, a large number of Iranians travel to Iraq, so we need better cooperation on such days," he noted.

Al-Rashed, for his part, expressed hope that the current problems caused by militants will be resolved soon.

"We need to boost the two countries relations in different fields," he noted.
