By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran is ready to attract investment by Developing-8 countries in its car, textile, and nanotechnology industries.
Iran's Industry Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh addressed the opening ceremony of the fourth meeting of industry ministers of D-8 countries, saying that joint investment should be boosted among the member states, Iran 's Fars news agency reported Jan. 28.
The D-8, also known as Developing-8, was officially established on June 15, 1997. The organization is comprised of eight Islamic countries, namely Iran, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
The D-8 objectives are to upgrade the member states' status in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at the international level and improve standards of living in the member countries.
