Iran's tax revenues has surpassed 479 trillion rials( about $17.4 billion based on official rate of 27,500 rial/USD) during the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 22, 2014) which is a new high record, the country's ISNA news agency reported Jan. 31.

The figure indicates an increase by 52 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

The country earned 315 trillion rials via taxes during the 9-month period of last fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 22, 2013), 21.5 percent more year on year.

Iran's tax revenues account for 700 trillion rials of the country's total budget in the current fiscal year (started on March 21, 2014).

Tax revenues will account for 870 trillion rials of the country's total budget in the next fiscal year (will start on March 20, 2015).

Earlier Ali Askari, head of Iran's tax organization said that the tax revenues account for 34 percent of the country's total budget in the current fiscal year, which is 18 percent more than the previous year.

However, he previously said that realization of the figure will be difficult considering the current taxation processes.

About 25 percent of the Iran's overall economy does not pay taxes, Askari said, adding that tax evasion is the main problem of the country's taxation system.
