Iran has prepared a package of investment, worth $17 billion, for its gas industry, Hassan Montazer Torbati, the National Iranian Gas Company's Secretary of Planning said.

Torbati said that new investment opportunities for establishing gas pipelines, gas pressure boost stations, and supply networks have been introduced to Iranian and foreign investors, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on Feb. 28.

He added that three international tenders have been held so far for building mini LNG production units, completing the sixth cross country gas pipeline, and supplying gas to power plants in the Sistan-Baluchestan province.

Some $4 billion worth of projects have been defined in the gas supply sector, he noted.

Montazer Torbati said on Jan. 7 that Iran has refined over 158 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2014) till Jan. 6.

The figure indicates an increase by 16 billion cubic meters or 12 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year, he said.

The Islamic Republic's gas exports during the period stood at eight billion cubic meters, 10 percent more year on year, the official said.
