Iran’s private sector invests $6.2B in building construction

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's private sector has invested 210 trillion rials (about $6.2 billion based on the free market rate) in the construction of buildings across the country in spring 2014.

The highest amount of investment, equaling 76.9 percent, was made in the construction of residential buildings, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on Feb. 28.

The total investments rose by 13.9 percent compared to spring 2013.

Tehran, Isfahan, and Khorasan provinces ranked the first with 28.6 percent, 9.3 percent, and 8.1 percent of the investment, respectively.

The private sector constructed 47,496 buildings in urban areas in the period, showing 26.1 percent fall year on year, according to the Central Bank of Iran.
