Iran is holding talks with Italy's Maire Tecnimont company to build one of the biggest petrochemical park across the Middle East in Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province.

Pierroberto Folgiero, Maire Tecnimont's CEO is in Tehran holding talks with Iranian officials, Mehr news agency reported Mar. 1.

The report says that the major topic on agenda in the talks is to construct an ABS petrochemical unit in Iran's Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, on which the sides have reached preliminary agreements.

Other units to be constructed in the park include LCBR, SB, and SBS units. The units will be funded by Jam Petrochemical Complex.

The park aims to produce 200 thousand metric tons of the strategic product ABS, as well as 36 thousand metric tons of LCGR, SB, and SBS, which will provide feed for complementary petrochemical industries.

The park is scheduled to be built in the second phase of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone by the end of the Iranian calendar year 1395, Mar. 20, 2017.

Marzieh Shahdaee, director of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company's plans, said Feb. 24 that Iran will inaugurate 15 new petrochemical units by Iranian fiscal year 1395.

She said this will boost the country's petrochemical capacity by 8.5 million metric tons.

Iran's petrochemical output has exceeded 40 million metric tons since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014).
