By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iranian cement producers owe €600 million to the country's National Development Fund, said Abdolreza Sheikhan, the secretary of the Union of Iranian Cement Industry Employers.

According to studies, the cement price should be increased by 17 percent in order to prevent closing down of cement factories, Iran 's IRNA news agency quoted Sheikhan as saying April 21.

According to initial calculations and with an eye to increase in transportation and production costs, price of cement should be increased, he added.

In May 2014, Sheikhan said that cement prices may be increased by 22 percent.

"Presently, Iran with an output capacity of 70 million tons of cement a year is the world's fourth largest producer of cement after China, India and the United States," he added.

Iran would become the world's third cement producer if its 75-million-ton nominal capacity becomes its actual capacity, he noted.
