Iran’s mineral exports decrease by 24%

Iran exported over $1.5 million worth of minerals during the last fiscal year(ended on March 20), indicating a 24 percent fall year on year.

The Islamic Republic exported about 23.786 million metric tons of various minerals during the 12-month period.

Iran's mineral exports also registered a fall by 25 percent in terms of volume during the last fiscal year, the official IRNA news agency reported April 26.

The Islamic Republic stands among the top 15 mineral rich countries in the world and ranks first in the Middle East.

The country holds more than 7 percent of the total mineral reserves of the globe. It lies on 37 billion metric tons of proven reserves and holds more than 57 billion metric tons of potential reserves of some 68 types of minerals.

The country's industrial exports also accounted for $14.989 billion in the last fiscal year, 0.4 percent less year on year.

Iran's industrial products' exports stood at 32.576 million metric tons in the period, registering two percent increase in terms of volume compared to the preceding year.

The Islamic Republic's non-oil exports (including condensates) stood at $49.744 billion during the period or by 18.87 percent more compared to the preceding year.

Tehran also imported about $52.477 billion worth of goods during the period, which indicates a 5.57 percent growth in value year on year.
